Abstract

The present work estimates length–weight relations of Farfantepenaeus notialis(Pérez Farfante, 1967) from New Calabar River, Rivers State, Nigeria. A total of one hundred and seventy shrimps were caught by cast netsat different parts of the River. Values of the exponent b in the length-weight regression were 1.68 and the calculated correlation coefficient (0.7980) showed a positive correlation between length and weight of the shrimp. The condition factor varied from 0.55 - 2.16 in the populations and with a mean value of.1.04 indicating robustness or well-being of Farfantepenaeus notialis.
