Abstract

The field and nursery experiment was carried out at Teaching and Research Farm, University of Jos, in Jos North LGA. Which is located at latitude of 9o47 59.99" N and longitude of 8o51' 59.99" W, to determine effect of different nutrient level on growth and yield of corchorus olitorius cv oniyaya. The experiment was a randomized complete block design and replicated three (3) times. Seedlings of Corchorus olitorius were raised in the nursery four weeks before transplanting. The treatments were control (no fertilizer), poultry droppings, cowdung at 400g/h and NPK (15:15:15).. The results shows that all the parameters were significantly (P<0.05) affected across the experimental treatments l. The poultry droppings had highest (P<0.05) number of leaves, number of branches, number of primary branches, number of productive primary branches, number of secondary branches, number of productive secondary branches, number of fruits, height of plant and fresh fruits compared with other manure . The lowest (P<0.05) values of the growth parameters measured were recorded in the control plants. For production of Corchorus olitorius poultry droppings shows superiority over other treatments parameters
