CARCASS YIED OF BROILER CHICKENS FED DIETS CONTAINING DIFFERENTLY PROCESSED SOYABEAN (Glycine max) MEAL WITH AND WITHOUT ORGANIC ACIDS

This study was conducted to evaluate the carcass characteristics and relative organs weight of broiler chickens fed diets containing differently processed soybean meal with and without organic acids. One hundred and eighty (180) day old- unsexed broiler chickens were randomly allotted into six dietary treatment with replicates of 10 birds per replicate in an experiment that lasted for 8 weeks The treatment consists of toasted soybean meal (TSBM) as T1, steamed soybean meal (SSBM) as T2 and sundried soybean meal (SDSBM) as T3,TSBM+OA as T4, SSBM+OA as T5 and SDSBM+OA as t6.Data were collected on carcass characteristics and relative organs weight, The result of inclusion of differently processed soybean meal on carcass characteristics and relative organs weight revealed significant (P<0.05) effect on live weight, plucked weight, dressed weight, and dressing percentage. Birds fed diets containing toasted soya bean meal (TSBM) with and without organic acid and steamed soya bean meal (SSBM) with and without organic acid, showed higher statistical value of 2466.70g, 2433.30g, 2233.30g and 2183.30g respectively for live weight. Similarly, plucked, dressed weight and dressed percentage varied significantly (P<0.05) among the treatment groups, except eviscerated weight which did not differ by diets. The value obtained for cut parts back, drumstick, wing, neck, shank shows no significant (P>0.05) difference. Among the relative organs, liver, gizzard, spleen and abdominal fat showed significantly different (P<0.05) value across dietary groups. Generally, among all the treatment groups, steam soya bean meal (SSBM) gave a better output. Additionally further study should be carried out on other methods of processing Soybean meal for efficient performance
