A case of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) in a male West Africa Dwarf goat was presented to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, University of Nigeria Nsukka with the following clinical signs: fever, mucopurulent ocular and nasal discharges, stomatitis, severe diarrhea and coughing. Following prompt diagnosis, treatment intervention was done using metronidazole, levamisole, oxytetracycline, multivitamin and Darrow’s solution. The month lesions were managed with potassium per manganese. Complete recovery of the goat was achieved as the symptoms resolved within 5 days of management. This present study tends to show the importance of prompt diagnosis and intervention. The result turnover time of colorimetric loop mediated isothermal amplification assay used to diagnosis PPR in this study took only 30 minutes. This assay can be a reliable alternative to reverse transcription –polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in the rapid detection of PPR infection and very helpful to those working in areas of limited resources in terms of electricity and fund.
