Résumé

Zobo ‖ waste is largely produced and disposed as waste in homes that produced ―zobo‖ drinks particularly in Nigeria. This study was conducted to determine the nutrient composition of ―zobo‖ waste: a by-product of roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) calyx. Samples of ―zobo‖ waste were collected and analysed for proximate and mineral compositions using standard protocols. The results showed that ―zobo‖ waste contained higher percent of ash and crude fibre; and it is lower in crude protein, ether extract, nitrogen free extract, lysine and methionine contents. It was concluded that ―zobo‖ waste can serve as alternative mineral and fibre sources for monogastric animals such as rabbits, pullets and layer hens which require high crude fibre levels in their diets
