RESPONSE OF BROILER CHICKENS TO DIFFERENT COMMERCIAL DIETS

Résumé

One hundred broiler day old chicks were raised and randomly allotted into three different commercial diets coded A, B and C as treatment T₁, T₂ and T₃, each treatment was replicated twice with 11 birds per replicate making 33 birds per treatment in a completely randomized design. The objective of the study was to evaluate the performance of three different commercial feeds in broiler chicken which lasted for seven weeks. Proximate analysis of the feed was carried out to assess any disparity in the composition. Feed and water were supplied ad libitum. At starter phase, the daily feed intake (51.46-52.34g), daily weight gain (22.06-42.90g) and feed conversion ratio (2.17-2.37g) were not significantly influenced (0<0.05) among the treatments. Similarly, at the finisher phase the final weight gain (2,467.00-2,470.08) daily feed intake (108.59-121.35g), daily weight gain (38.42-42.90g) and feed conversion ratio (2.60-3.20g) shows no significant differences within the treatments. Thus, it can be concluded that all the different diets may be suitable for feeding broiler chickens.
